Loved it, i am a sucker for golf games!

Am I confused? Is there a way for the computer to play? Is it mislabeled?

Overall good game, Graphics are simplistic, controls are easy to get the hang of.

GG, See you next jam!

As I'm typing this, one of my balls in stuck in an infinite loop, bouncing back and forth between the speed arrows on Level 3. That might need fixing. In general, the physics feel a bit wonky; the balls don't really seem to roll, come to a halt suddenly, hardly bounce back when they hit an obstacle, and you can't hit them into the air.

But! The graphics are lovely, and the bird soundtrack really sets the mood. The other sounds are rather hard on the ears in comparison, sadly.

I'm not sure how this is a "duel" rather than just a 1vs1 game, but well. Good job!

Thanks for you returns.

@Lokior I am not sure I understand your feedback. Is there an issue with the computer opponent?

@thomastc Thanks for the detailled feedback. We are aware that the physics is not optimal, but you nailed what's wrong with it. However, I am not sure how to fix that. Maybe add more bounciness to the balls material.

Regarding the fact that you can't hit them into the air however, it's supposed to be like that so they don't get out the level. :b

For the sound effects, how loud is your volume? I think they are rather soft when I play the game myself…

Minigolf duel? Not a bad idea, even if old as dirt. I at least spent many hours playing crummy multiplayer minigolf java applets back in the day. I don't think I'm the only one.

The audio design is spot on, very grounded ambienace with crispy effects for putting the ball and hitting obstacles. Visually the style is cohesive with the flag being a highlight, while the polygonal rocks being the …lowlight? The large flat areas look too plasticy. They should have a matte material with maybe some sort of a simple pattern as well.

Two balls per side is a strange move. It works, I guess, but I didn't find it to be too useful. Technically the other ball could be used to mess with the opponent, but that was hardly needed as the AI didn't exactly know how to play effectively. It completely fails at bumpers!

You can achieve more realistic golf ball behaviour by tweaking the rigidbody drag and angular drag variables, the as well as the physic material bounciness and friction values. I don't have a specific formula in mind, as I've actually never tried to simulate a golf ball, but it is doable (looking at what others have done in Unity)

Good work!

Nice idea! I like how it completely changes how standard minigolf is played (and would be impossible to implement in real life too).

The levels were well designed and I like the different obstacles. I'd happily play more levels if this was made into a bigger game. The AI was fairly easy, but I think it's better to fall down on the easy side in gamejam games.

Well done.

We are aware that the physics is not optimal, but you nailed what's wrong with it. However, I am not sure how to fix that. Maybe add more bounciness to the balls material.

I don't know about Unity, but in many physics engines you'd need to adjust the bounciness of both colliding materials to get a proper bounce. Imagine hitting a billiards ball (close to 100% elastic) into a soft cloth (close to 0% elastic), you wouldn't get much bounce in real life either.

For the sound effects, how loud is your volume? I think they are rather soft when I play the game myself…

Not necessarily too loud, just harsh and jarring compared to the nice soft ambient bird sounds.
