Fish And Plastic

Dodge trashes and ships and try to survive to pollution and overfishing

In this game you will play as a fish living in a destroyed ecosystem cause of pollution and overfishing.

You have to survive several years with the hope to get out of this plastic continent alive.

The game tries to represent the fish's point of view.

During its life, drastic changes in its environment appear and the pollution of our ocean will increase as a report of the bad health of our ocean.

Will you survive enough to get the true end ?

The game is very well made.

Usually we just hear about the news and then forget about it, but this can give a nice perspective on how difficult is the life of a fish in a garbage dump of an ocean.

I loved the art and graphical effects on this entry, which when combined with sound yielded an excellent atmosphere. The art style for the menus was pretty good too.

The concept is simple but fitting, and like Tushar said it does give a interesting and different perpective on the situation. The increasing number of jellyfish in the background was a great touch on top of the pollution (I only learnt quite recently that the increase in jellyfish populations was directly linked to overfishing).

The gameplay was slow which was appropriate to set the mood, but I still found the balancing to be unsatisfying. For most of the game I could stay safe in the invisible top right corner of the map, making me unattainable for the fishing nets. I only had to evade obstacles a couple times, until in 2009 I got suddently caught by a dense group of items which was pretty hard to avoid.

I would have loved if the map had more relaxed limits (if only for immersion), ie. you could at least move left or right as much as you want and the obstacle generation spawner would simply follow you. Another suggestion if you had more time would be to have a food system to add some risk/reward factor (which would give you the opportunity to make plastic items that look exactly like food from afar…).

Overall it's excellent work, and an impressive visual result. Great job!

Thanks you everyone for this wonderful gamejam !Everyone did a really great work and we are awesomely happy and surprise to win our first gamejam.

Wan i'm agree with your comment, several thing must be improve in the gameplay part to add more dynamics and possibility. We did a small movement zone to be sure of stay in a good optimisation and a good frame rate like we has musted fixe some things with the optimisation.
At the moment we don't really know if we will push it more, however this awesome experience give us a really good motivation and hope to continue and challenge us like this week.

Continue to create games and be passionate ! <3
