Glyphwitches in the Machine

A local co-op puzzle game.

Glyphwitches in the Machine is a local co-op game where you work as a team to find your way through maze-like rooms. Unlock doors with glitching glyphs, strategically carry and place your lanterns to illuminate the map, and work together to reveal all obstacles in your way. Grab a friend and explore the Machine!

Player 1: WASD to move, [Q] to go through doors, pick things up, and put them down.
Player 2: arrow keys to move, [Enter] to go through doors, pick things up, and put them down.

Here are my thoughts after grabbing a friend and exploring the machine :)

The feeling of floating around together exploring misterious rooms was actually quite cool! The fact that you have to be together to see all the obstacles is nice, and the way the characters slip and the whole bounciness also feels really good.
Took us a couple of tries to figure out how to interact with the world, but maybe that's part of the experience?
That being said, the game has a few issues that prevent a good gameplay:

  • When reaching the boundaries of the room, the witches continue moving and disappear out of sight instead of stopping.
  • We tried a couple of the rooms, and they felt really large and empty, and without any apparent goal.
  • Since the characters start in opposite corners, first meeting can become tedious and frustrating, especially in very large rooms, since there's no good way of avoiding traps that send us back to the start.

Overall, the game has potential, but needs some improvement and more clear goals.
