Dark Colors

You are a person that can only walk on the Color of his robes.

You are a person that can only walk on the Color of his robes. You can use your cursor as a Flashlight but this will use more energy than locking the light onto the player. You have to reach the colorful Crystal at the end of each Level. There are 8 Levels to be played but the last few are quite hard! The game was created in Java using no engine.

Hey!

This was such a nice game! Clever use of the theme and nice mechanics you created around it. However, the last level was so frustrating, I actually rage quitted after some time D:

But overall, the idea is very well implemented. Level design is something I suck at, and for a 48h solo entry, this was very nice.

I had a lot of fun with this! A good mix of challenging platforming and puzzles.

This would be the solution for the last level pretty much and sorry for all the rage it caused xD

Pretty fun puzzle platformers with neat mechanics. It is nice how player is forced to look around the level rather quickly so he won't run out of energy. First levels are good, short tutorials but later levels (as you said) are pretty challenging. Graphics are pretty simple but funcional and easy to read, music in the background is ok.
In overal pretty good concept and execution.

Took me quite a while to actually realize that the character was the character and there were other controls besides mouse. I like to dive into the games blind without reading the description…

I have no idea why but the character kept getting completely locked refusing to move at all. Sometimes after spamming the controls a bit, the character managed to jump and unfreezed just to get stuck again after like a tile of movement. This seemed completely random and always happened before the potion on the second level even after relaunching the game several times. I'm on mac so it can indeed have something to do with that or my java version as well.

And now I tried once again and it seems to work fine with arrow keys but locks down if I use WASD.

Probably another issue that only I encountered because all the relaunches was the fact that the tutorial message couldn't be skipped. Got kinda annoying waiting around for it to go away.

The lights looked werid when they overlapped with that black outline.

The was a game with very similar color changing mechanic back in LD38. And funnily enough, it was also made with java. I think the color chaning thing kinda works better without the whole light mechanic. Both the mechanics are cool but don't really fit that well together in my opinion.

Oh and the light mechanic has some fundamental issues. I mean, it was pretty much: scout the level with the light, remember it, finish it if you have time or die and then do it. Didn't see much point in increasing the light size either, it seemed more energy efficient to do sweeps with the small one. Also didn't find any use for attaching the light to the character.

Interesting mechanics, but the difficulty curve is rather brutal. I really like how you have to save energy. Maybe you could stress that a bit more with some juice: a sound effect that gets louder or higher in pitch as you consume more energy, and maybe the light would flicker when you are running low.

I also like the soundtrack. It's simple but fits the game well.
