Ancient Ruins of the Mushroom Kingdom

I'm sorry, but the princess is in another castle!

This game is unfinished! Please don't rank/rate. :(

At the moment, all that works is the maze generation of the town level. As soon as the maze generation of the dungeon levels works, I will upload that. Unfortunately, the game won't be finished now, but perhaps I'll finish it when the 7DRL comes up.

It took me one day to implement the town maze, and one day to implement the ruins maze, and since the ruins maze is so buggy, I'm not yet showing it (it crashes the game).

Supposedly I took another day to finish making the game, but really I barely got anything else done.

Arrows move around. GUI is broken. GUI works in the Unity editor but no where else. Press tab to hide the GUI. Hopefully my next update will fix that.

Looks like a pretty fun game and an interesting concept/art style. Hope you finish it later and post it. Thank you for showing it off! Also it's cool that the levels are randomly generated, hard to get done in a jam.

It's a shame you ran out of time, the concept looks interesting! Is the maze generator combining and rotating pre-defined road-tiles? And I'm assuming that this would be the "overland map" of the game?

I like the art-style, it has a nice "hand drawn water color" aesthetic to it, with a clear distinction between the elements of main city vs. explorable ruin vs. terrain vs… Giant Mushroom Tree? :D

Update: I've made major updates, and now the game functions much closer to how I had envisioned it. The only missing part (as of this moment) is that the monsters don't exist, and thus the reason for the cave exploring is mostly gone (though much safer). But, at least it is much more easily demoed than when I originally submitted it.

Interesting concept, I liked the idea of going between the overworld and the dungeons, and buying stuff was cool. I also liked the art style. I think the game will be fun once monsters are implented. I do think you could optimize the controls a bit. I don't see why you need to use "<" and ">" to go up and down floors instead of just pressing "e" while on the correct tile. Good stuff so far overall though.

The "<" and ">" come from playing roguelike games where that is the standard for going up and downstairs. I might switch to just "e", I like that better.
